Black Serenity – Cover Design
Black Serenity is a vinyl album concept I designed for DMV rapper LR DA VINCHII. We’ve known of each other since high school and occasionally kept in touch. I reached out through Instagram to collaborate on a a fresh visual identity for his music, aiming to support his brand and grow my design portfolio in the process.
The front cover (right) features a high-contrast photo of LR DA VINCHII behind a chain-link fence, symbolizing resilience and the duality of strength and vulnerability. I paired a bold serif typeface for the artist name along with graffiti-style handwriting to reflect both elegance and street authenticity.

The back cover (left) I applied handwritten font for the track list, his logo (redesigned vector) as a bumper sticker on the car, and torn, slightly burned paper textures were all chosen to express the artist’s gritty, unapologetic voice.
I asked LR DA VINCHII if he had a logo he wanted to use. He said he did not have a professionally done logo – he sent me this original hand-drawn eagle design.
I vectorized and refined the artwork while staying true to the original linework and symbolism. After seeing the first version (left), he asked if I could adjust the wing colors to blue, yellow, and white to represent his Virgin Islands flag and roots. The final logo became a proud emblem of his identity and legacy as a rapper.

Overall, he was thrilled with the result and told me it went “above and beyond” what he imagined!
Lastly, I also created a fictional record label brand (Raw Beats Studios) to bring professional polish and realism to the album concept. Three color versions allow flexibility for merch and branding.
